With 18 months of planning already under their belts, the Revolution Rock producers have announced a live concert celebration of Brisbane music for February 2003.

Showcasing up to 14 Brisbane acts from the 1950's to the present day, Revolution Rock Live is a one- day, one-off event that will feature icons of Brisbane music performing on 2 stages at Brisbane Powerhouse on 16 February next year.

Revolution Rock is a multimedia project to document Brisbane's contemporary music phenomenon over the decades. The Powerhouse event on 16 February aims to bring together bands that have influenced Brisbane's distinctive urban culture and identity.

Revolution Rock Community Arts Collective executive officer Kelvin Johnston said that this unique event will have something for everyone, with a line up which includes some of Brisbane's most influentual and successful artists. "This full day live music event is a great way to kick off the Revolution Rock project. It will be the first in what we hope will be a series of events under the Revolution Rock banner which aim to preserve and promote Brisbane's music culture", he said.

"We'll be announcing the line-up over the next few weeks. Brisbanites will be assured an opportunity to enjoy some old and new favourites and a few surprises as well. Some of the names featured will be well known to a wider audience, while others have gathered a following among weekend punters," he said.

The Revolution Rock Live event is presented by Brisbane Powerhouse and Revolution Rock, with assistance from the Queensland Council of Unions and Arts Queensland.

Tickets are on sale now from the Brisbane Powerhouse box office on 07-3358 8600, or purchase online at www.brisbanepowerhouse.org Tickets are $62.50 and numbers are strictly limited.
